Dream- In Class Assignment

When you sleep and are far away in dreamland how disappointed are you to hear your alarm calling you back to reality? What is it about dreams that can drive a person crazy? More importantly what are dreams?

The average person sleeps 1/3 of their lives. This means that for those of us lucky enough, we spend 1/3 of our lives dreaming. So why do we dream? Well sadly I cannot answer that question. However I can give you some theories that various people have come up with.

Lets start with Sigmund Freud. You know the guy, he's the one who started the whole mess on being in love with your parents, but that is beside the point. Freud thought that dreams were a representation of unconscious desires, thoughts, and motivations.

Next on our list of theories comes J. Allen Hobson and Robert McClarley's ideas on dreaming. They thought that during REM sleep the brain synthesized and interpreted internal activity, such as emotion, sensations, and memories, and attempted to find meaning, which would result in dreaming.

Other theories have come about from the brain 'cleaning up' clutter to the brains natural way of therapy. No matter the theory we still dream and we may never know why, but we might as well enjoy dreaming while it lasts.

Keuka Basketball Starts Again!

If you are a Keuka College student, odd's are you were already at the games tonight. This evening marked the start of the Keuka Basketball teams season. I couldn't make the girls game but I did make the second half of the boys game. Let me tell you the crowd was roaring especially when it came to the last five minutes of the game.

With 4 minutes and 22 seconds left in the Keuka men's basketball game, we all knew it would be a nail bitter. With keuka at 49 and Canton at 55, every person in the crowd couldn't help but wonder if Keuka would win this one. With the Keuka crowd excited with anticipation, and the entire team siting on the edge of their seats, we watched as the minutes ticked slowly down. The cheerleaders were loud as they edged our team on and the crowd roared with every shot taken. With 55 seconds left the score was Keuka 59 and Canton 65. We all knew that with 2 three pointers Keuka could tie the game up. With the whistles blowing every 2 seconds calling fouls on Keuka we knew there would be no coming back, so the game ended with Keuka 61 to Canton 68.

Although our team lost it was easy to tell our team had the bigger heart. Nice job guys! Next time you will have them beat! I recommend every student go to at least one game, so that you can cheer our team on. It is also nice to enjoy the uplifting experience of being around your peers who are all supporting your school.

To see a game simply look at Keuka's website, on the sports page and find a sport you would enjoy watching. I'm telling you, it will be worth your time!

Sign Me Up!

A little bird told me a few weeks ago that Keuka College was in the process of purchasing apartment buildings that would house up to 130 students.  However when I heard this they said I wasn't aloud to talk about it because it wasn't set in stone.

Now the Keuka website has announced that they have purchased them and are planning on using them for Keuka Student Housing in future years to come. When I heard this I was ecstatic, I wanted to tell everyone! I mean seriously the idea of having the opportunity to live in an apartment my junior or senior year sounds amazing! This excitement is not just because I am currently tripled.

I personally can't wait to be a Junior or Senior, so that I can have the opportunity to live in one of these apartments. So Keuka sign me up!
